BEETS
Luke loves food - we just give him real food - nothing out of a jar for him!! so, here are a picture of some of his beet-eating :)

my mom ("Nana") had just walked in the kitchen, and Luke got very excited to see her!! If you look on his tray, there are bits of cooked carrot too... he likes to use the beets as glue on his finger to pick up the carrots!

needless to say... beets are usually only eaten at dinner time, on nights when he's getting a bath!!

especially for Auntie Claire
Auntie Claire sent Luke his first birthday present a bit early... he asked us very nicely if he could open it... we couldn't say no! it was a very cute caterpiller to accompany the book "the very hungry caterpiller" Yippee!! we didn't have this book and it has quickly become a favorite - along with the toy!! Thank you Auntie Claire!!

Luke's 11 month birthday
it snowed for Luke's 11 month birthday last week :)
so, i took some pictures - they aren't the best, but you get the idea... there was a lot more that came down too, and it stuck!! it was neat, cause i got to watch it out the window while Luke was nursing and napping (on my lap - the first born is definitely well-loved!)

just another "living in the country" post
so, i have a very adorable 10 month old
he loves to crawl
and get into everything
and put things in his mouth
guess what i found when vacuuming tonight...
a live scorpion
on our floor
...
hmm, must watch the child even closer now!
(there goes any attempt at getting things done during the day!! but i definitely think spending quality time with Luke is more fun anyway :) )

no water
we have been gone all week (out of town celebrating our second wedding anniversary and traveling for Greg's work) ... we got home tonight around 6pm ... we have no water ... please pray ... here's the quick points:
- we live in the middle of nowhere (an hour round trip - at least - to a grocery store)
- we are on our own well for water
- no one can even come look at our well until tomorrow after 10
- we were traveling all week and we all need showers and Luke definitely needs a bath
- i am so frugal we don't have paper dishes & i use powdered milk (which needs water)
- i use cloth diapers - they will need to be washed!
here are the positives:
- we have our Faith and God who loves us
- we are happy and healthy
- i still nurse Luke, so i'm not concerned about water for him
- i have lots of food already made in the house & freezer
- we still have power!!
- we have a pool that we can use the water from to flush the toilets at least
ok, St. John Nepomucene, patron Saint of running water, pray for us!
